Just the Truth Podcast with Joey Hudson
Yesterday, more than 200,000 mourners gathered at State Farm Stadium to say goodbye to Charlie Kirk—husband, father, founder of Turning Point USA, and a defining voice for a generation. In today’s show, we bring you the moments that mattered—and what they mean next.
In this episode:
• Stadium memorial highlights: tributes, testimonies, and a call to carry the torch
• “Martyr” debate: what the term means historically and why so many used it yesterday
• Trump & Musk together at the memorial: symbolism and possible thaw in tensions
• Investigation update: where the case stands and what’s being examined
• Policy watch: the death-penalty discussion and how Utah/South Carolina approach it
• Health policy tease: President Trump signals a “major” autism announcement
Key takeaways:
-
The memorial blended grief with resolve: “You can silence a man, not a movement.”
-
The “martyr” label isn’t a slogan—it’s about how attempts to silence can amplify a message.
-
Public safety and political violence are under a microscope as investigators probe every angle.
-
A renewed push for debate, mentorship, free speech, and disciplined civic engagement.

Just the Truth Podcast with Joey Hudson - WEEKEND
Protecting the Flock & Healing the Hurt: Church Security Training + Free Grief Support for Families (Upstate SC)
In today’s show we cover two urgent, hopeful topics for our communities in the Upstate:
-
how to protect houses of worship with practical, faith-focused security training, and
-
how grieving kids and caregivers can find free support through horse-assisted peer groups.
“Securing Sacred Spaces” (C&C Indoor Range – Sept 25)
Churches, synagogues, and faith-based schools are often labeled “soft targets,” but they don’t have to be. C&C Indoor Range (Asheville Hwy, Boiling Springs — CCIndoorRange.com) is hosting Securing Sacred Spaces on September 25 — a focused, two-hour workshop designed for pastors, ushers/greeters, safety teams, school staff, and volunteers (armed or unarmed, no prior experience required).
What you’ll learn (real-world, church-specific):
-
Recognizing pre-attack indicators (behavioral red flags greeters can spot early)
-
Emergency Action Plans: evacuation, lockdown, medical response, rally points
-
Legal & Liability basics for church safety teams (use of force, carry on church property)
-
Insurance: what your policy likely covers — and what it doesn’t
-
Team roles that work on Sundays: team lead, door posts, internal rover, medical, comms
-
Sample security plan templates for small, medium, and large congregations
Register: CCIndoorRange.com → Training → Securing Sacred Spaces (Sept 25)
Location: C&C Indoor Range, Asheville Hwy, Boiling Springs, SC
Note: Seats are limited.
Quick disclaimer: This segment provides general information, not legal advice. Always follow South Carolina law, your church’s policies, and coordinate with local law enforcement.
Tomorrow’s Rainbow (Free Grief Support • Travelers Rest)
Tomorrow’s Rainbow offers free, twice-monthly grief support groups for children (age 3–18) and their caregivers, now serving families here in the Upstate from Travelers Rest. The program blends clinician-led peer support with on-the-ground interaction with horses (no riding) — a calm, hands-on setting that helps kids regulate big emotions and reconnect with joy.
Who should attend: families experiencing the loss of a loved one or significant trauma.
How it works: age-appropriate groups (Littles, Bigs, Teens) meet twice monthly; caregivers receive support, too.
Extras: “Grief on the Go” and the Coping Academy bring this model to schools, churches, camps, and community partners.
Learn / Enroll / Donate: TomorrowsRainbow.org
Programs are free thanks to community support. If you’re able, consider donating at TomorrowsRainbow.org to keep services accessible to every family that needs them.

York County Police Ambush, Rise of “Assassination Culture,” House Moves to Honor Charlie Kirk, Trump’s Windsor State Dinner, & ABC Pulls Kimmel
A heartbreaking day in Pennsylvania: five officers shot, three killed in an ambush in York County. We break down the timeline, what authorities have confirmed, and how the law-enforcement community is responding. Then we examine researchers’ warnings about a growing “assassination culture” online in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s murder—what that term means, where it’s showing up, and why leaders are sounding alarms. Plus: the U.S. House advances a resolution to honor Charlie Kirk; President Trump is feted by King Charles III at a Windsor Castle state dinner; and ABC/Nexstar pull “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” after his remarks about Kirk spark backlash.
If you’re here for clear, fact-forward coverage and smart analysis, you’re in the right place.
What we cover
-
York County shooting: timeline, law-enforcement response, hospital updates, and the latest status from state and federal partners (FBI/ATF).
-
Assassination culture: NCRI/Rutgers findings on how memes and online extremism can normalize political violence; recent cases; and what platforms, parents, and policymakers can do.
-
Congressional action: the House’s procedural step that clears floor debate on a resolution honoring Charlie Kirk and what the rule vote actually means.
-
State dinner at Windsor Castle: President Trump’s remarks, King Charles III’s response, and why the ceremony matters for U.S.–U.K. ties.
-
Media fallout: why ABC and major affiliates preempted “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and how networks are weighing “public interest” in a tense moment.
Why this matters
Targeted attacks on police and public figures are testing community trust and democratic norms. Researchers warn that online “aesthetics” of violence can become real-world scripts. Meanwhile, institutions—from Congress to broadcasters—are making consequential choices that shape how the country responds. We connect the dots without the noise.

Kirk Case Charges Filed • Alleged Text Confession Emerges • ABC’s Matt Gutman Backlash • Patel vs. Schiff Fireworks • SC House Shake-Up?
We open with the latest in the Charlie Kirk assassination case. Prosecutors formally charged 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson and say the evidence now includes text messages and online chats in which the suspect allegedly admits to the killing and discusses retrieving and hiding a rifle. According to prosecutors, Robinson’s transgender partner, Lance Twiggs, provided screenshots and cooperated with investigators. In one exchange (as described by prosecutors), Robinson allegedly wrote, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it,” and later, “I am, I’m sorry,” when asked directly if he was the shooter.
Robinson appeared by video in court and was formally charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child. Prosecutors said they intend to seek the death penalty. Robinson did not enter a plea and remains held without bail pending his next hearing.
Meanwhile, ABC News is under fire after correspondent Matt Gutman described portions of the alleged message exchange as “very touching,” emphasizing the intimacy of the relationship rather than the brutality of the crime—drawing sharp criticism online from commentators and elected officials who say the framing romanticized an accused killer. ABC has not (as of taping) issued a public correction or apology, and the backlash is growing.
On Capitol Hill, a fiery Judiciary Committee hearing featured FBI Director Kash Patel and Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) trading barbs over DOJ/BOP decisions and transparency. The back-and-forth escalated to Patel calling Schiff a “political buffoon,” reviving long-simmering disputes over Russiagate, January 6, and perceived double standards in high-profile investigations.
Back home in South Carolina, Rep. Stephen Frank (House Dist. 20, Greenville County) joins us to discuss a push to remove a Democratic lawmaker from the House Judiciary Committee following insensitive comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. We’ll cover what was said, where leadership stands, and how free-speech claims intersect with legislative standards of conduct.
We’ll also share Turning Point USA’s statement focusing on honoring Charlie’s life and legacy, and we’ll keep you up to date on memorial details as they’re finalized.

Just the Truth Podcast with Joey Hudson
Today’s show: a different kind of broadcast after a heartbreaking week. We open with the latest official updates in the investigation into the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk, then reflect on his life, faith, and impact—including two classic campus exchanges that show why Charlie connected with a generation:
-
“How do you persuade the one you love?” — Charlie’s gentle roadmap for sharing your faith without pressure: love first, live it out, ask better questions.
-
“What is a woman?” — a calm, fact-based debate on biological sex, fairness in women’s sports, and free speech on campus.
You’ll also hear highlights from my conversation with Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette on Charlie’s legacy, community response, and leadership in tense times. We’ll touch on national tributes, campus safety questions, and local fallout after a Greenville County Schools employee’s inappropriate post about the tragedy.
