Just the Truth Podcast with Joey Hudson
Major developments today involving Iran, national security, and South Carolina politics.
President Donald Trump told NBC News over the weekend that Iran is ready to make a deal — but he is not prepared to accept a ceasefire agreement at this time. The president also suggested that Iran’s new supreme leader may not even be alive, adding another layer of uncertainty to the rapidly evolving situation inside the country.
Meanwhile, exiled Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi says he is prepared to lead Iran through a political transition “as soon as the Islamic Republic falls.” His comments come as pressure on the Iranian regime intensifies and speculation grows about the future leadership of the country.
In another developing story, Israeli officials say the brother of the suspect in last week’s synagogue attack in Michigan was a commander in Hezbollah. Authorities are now investigating potential connections to international terrorism following the attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield.
Closer to home, the South Carolina House has passed a $15.4 billion state budget. House Ways and Means Chairman Bruce Bannister described the proposal as an “optimistic” roadmap for the future of the Palmetto State. The measure now moves to the South Carolina Senate before heading to Governor Henry McMaster.
In today’s episode:
-
Trump’s latest comments on Iran negotiations
-
Iran leadership uncertainty and Reza Pahlavi’s response
-
Terror link revealed in Michigan synagogue attack investigation
-
South Carolina’s $15.4 billion budget proposal

Major developments today involving national security, economic policy, and South Carolina politics.
The FBI is investigating a violent attack at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan, calling it a “targeted act of violence against the Jewish community.” Authorities are working to determine motive as concerns about antisemitic violence rise across the country.
Meanwhile, United States Central Command confirmed that a U.S. aircraft has been reported lost in Iraq during ongoing military operations connected to the conflict with Iran. Details remain limited as officials assess what happened and the status of the crew.
President Donald Trump is also urging the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates immediately, arguing that the economic fallout from the conflict with Iran — particularly rising energy prices — requires swift action to stabilize the economy.
Closer to home, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has vetoed a bill that would have shielded college athletes’ NIL deals from public records requests. The legislature must now decide whether to override the veto or allow the measure to die.
And South Carolina Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette joins the show to discuss the state budget recently passed by the SC House and what to expect as the Senate finalizes its version.

It’s another packed news cycle covering energy policy, immigration, government oversight, and a major fraud case here in South Carolina.
California Governor Gavin Newsom is blaming President Donald Trump for the state’s soaring gas prices, with some Californians paying nearly $2 more per gallon than the national average. Is the increase tied to global tensions and war in the Middle East — or to California’s environmental policies and energy regulations?
Meanwhile, a Senate hearing turned heated when Bernie Moreno pressed a former Biden administration adviser with a simple question: Is entering the United States illegally a crime? The exchange quickly escalated, sparking debate about immigration law and enforcement.
In Minnesota, officials from the state’s Department of Human Services skipped a major hearing held by a state House fraud prevention panel. Critics say the absence raises serious questions about whether state leaders — including Tim Walz — are truly committed to uncovering fraud within government programs.
And here in the Upstate, federal prosecutors say a Greenville-based company processed hundreds of thousands of faulty COVID-19 tests and collected millions of dollars in fraudulent reimbursements from the federal government. We break down what investigators say happened and what comes next in the case.
In today’s episode:
-
California gas price controversy
-
Senate hearing clash over illegal immigration
-
Minnesota fraud investigation controversy
-
Greenville COVID-testing fraud case

Meanwhile, Senator John Kennedy is drawing national attention after publicly apologizing while acknowledging that a U.S. strike hit a girls’ elementary school in Iran, killing 168 people, most of them children. His comments have sparked debate about accountability, wartime decisions, and the human cost of conflict.
Closer to home, another South Carolina county is weighing new regulations on short-term rentals like Airbnb. Supporters say the move is needed to protect neighborhoods and manage tourism. Critics argue it’s an attack on private property rights. We break down both sides of the debate.

Just the Truth Podcast with Joey Hudson
On this episode of Just the Truth with Joey Hudson, we take a closer look at two issues that matter to many families here in the Upstate: the future of local leadership and the importance of responsible firearm ownership.
First, Joey talks with William Crawford, a Boiling Springs resident, business owner, and father of two sons in public school who is preparing to run for Spartanburg County Council. While the official filing period has not yet opened, Crawford is already meeting with voters across the county. In this conversation, he shares why he believes county government should operate with a more business-minded approach, greater transparency, and stronger fiscal discipline as Spartanburg County continues to grow.
Then Joey sits down with Doug Lawson, a certified firearms instructor and member of the United States Practical Shooting Association, to talk about gun safety, training, and the responsibilities that come with carrying a firearm. Doug discusses the value of proper instruction, the role of a South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP), and why education and responsible handling are essential for anyone interested in the shooting sports or personal protection.
Two conversations focused on local leadership, personal responsibility, and issues impacting communities across South Carolina.
